Red White And Blue Cubes (Printable)

Layered red, white and blue ice with berries, coconut and juices to chill drinks with a festive, patriotic touch.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup fresh coconut meat or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water
05 - 1 cup natural blueberry juice
06 - 1 cup natural strawberry juice or cranberry juice

# How-To Steps:

01 - Rinse blueberries and strawberries thoroughly. Hull and chop strawberries into small pieces for even distribution.
02 - Fill the bottom third of each ice cube tray compartment with blueberries. Add enough blueberry juice to just cover the fruit. Place tray in freezer and freeze for approximately 1 hour, until firm.
03 - Once the first layer is set, add a layer of coconut meat or sprinkle unsweetened shredded coconut over the frozen blueberries. Pour coconut water to fill the next third of each compartment. Return tray to freezer and freeze for 1 additional hour, until firm.
04 - Top each compartment with chopped strawberries. Pour strawberry or cranberry juice to fill to the top. Freeze for at least 2 more hours or until completely solid.
05 - Remove the colorful ice cubes from the tray. Add to lemonade, sparkling water, or cocktails to provide a festive and vibrant touch.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • You’ll secretly smile every time your drink turns into a glittering display of color (and your friends will definitely notice).
  • It’s ridiculously easy, but somehow feels like a magic trick when you pop the cubes out.
02 -
  • Trying to hurry the layers sets you up for murky colors—give each one its time to freeze, trust me.
  • Chilling the juices and coconut water ahead speeds things up and keeps fruit suspended in perfect layers.
03 -
  • Never overfill the tray or the cubes will meld together in the freezer—leave a sliver of room at the top.
  • You can sneak in a drop of lemon juice to each layer to boost fruit flavors and keep colors bright.
